WHAT IS RAPÉ?

Rapé, pronounced as ‘Hapay,’ is a legal sacred snuff used by Amazonian Indigenous communities. Some Westerners also casually refer to it as ‘hapé,’ ‘hapi,’ or ‘rapay.’ Originating primarily from South American indigenous tribes, particularly in Brazil and Peru, Rapé holds ancient significance within their spiritual and cultural practices.

Crafted with great reverence and accompanied by numerous prayers, this potent gift from the earth undergoes a labor-intensive process to transform a blend of refined sacred herbs, plants, leaves, flowers, Amazonian trees, seeds, and the revered Jungle Tobacco known as ‘Mapacho’ into a powdered form.

There exists a diverse array of Rapé blends, each emanating its own unique distinct vibration, notes, qualities, subtleties, and effects on the energetic realm. Functioning as a potent plant teacher, Rapé allows for the channeling of specific intentions during its use. These are some of the uses and benefits that have been described:

Rapé possesses the ability to seek out and address illness, negativity, and trauma on physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels within the body to be released.

Administration involves blowing the refined sacred powder through a bamboo or bone pipe, referred to as a ‘Tepi’ when administered to others and as a ‘Kuripe’ for self-administration, directly into each nostril.

Recommended Dosage & Usage Instructions:

Start with a small amount of hapé, usually a dime-sized portion. Hold it in your palm and take a moment to connect with your intentions and possibly offer a prayer.

Using a Kuripe for self-administration or Tepi for administering to others, load half of the hapé into the pipe for the first nostril, left side. If self administering, take a big breath holding it, insert the long nostril of the Kuripe pipe into one nostril and the smaller side into your mouth.

Exhale and blow strongly into the pipe, which will push the hapé into your nostril. Then repeat on the right side of the nostril. After applying the hapé, sit in meditation for 5-10 minutes to allow the effects to settle in and open yourself up to the experience. Allow your intuition to guide you. Over time you will develop a relationship with the plant spirit of hapé.

Storage: Keep hapé in airtight containers, away from wet, damp, and humid conditions, and store them out of direct sunlight to maintain their quality over time.
